What programs are offered?
Brock University offers a four-year BA in Dramatic Arts. There’s also the option to apply to Co-op (12-20 months of paid relevant work experience built into the program – 4 or more years) or Concurrent Education (Undergraduate Degree combined with Teacher Education – 6 years [4 years of undergraduate and 2 years of Teacher Education). A BA Pass degree can be completed in 3 years.
As part of the core of the BA, you will take courses that integrate theory and practice (praxis). These involve a mix of lectures and studio work that explore ways in which creativity and analysis are linked culturally and historically.
You may choose one of the following areas of concentration:
Explores theatre’s impact outside the traditional theatre space, including the ways drama and theatre activities enhance the learning process.

Involves a core series of courses to actualize your potential as a stage actor.

Prepares you for production work, crewing, design and other elements of technical theatre stagecraft.

What kinds of classes can I take?
Practical applications of acting, directing, design, and theatrical production in the repertory program of the Shaw Festival Theatre, only 20 minutes away from our campus. We also have a Stratford specific course as well as intensive acting courses every year of the program.
Students research techniques and practice of design for the theatre. We have many other courses in wigs, make up, props building, stage management, sound technology, carpentry, and more!
Theory and practice of play building and applied theatre techniques to assist communities in articulating issues, enhancing understanding of their complexity and planning future actions. We engage community with our work!
Drama in Education theories and practical strategies to motivate and enrich learning within a range of areas of study. Students interested in drama in education do placements in schools throughout their time in our program!
